Basic Info
Name:The Prince
Birthdate:03-12
Location:Iran
Bio

Appearance:

The Prince is a young man, lithe and richly dressed. He wears white trousers, expensive looking boots, and a billowing blue shirt beneath a brown studded leather cuirass or vest, complete with shoulder pads and serving as armour. Over his back, he wears a sturdy belt with a sword scabbard, and he has a blue sash tied around his waist that is presumably capable of holding the many items Prince comes across on his travels. He also wears two wrist guards, made of the same material as his vest and boots, and a thin belt, from which a sheath containing the mythical Dagger of Time dangles. Facially, the Prince is striking, with a narrow, angular face, high cheekbones and a pointy chin. He has light blue eyes, a small goatee, and a distinctive scar through his left eyebrow. His hair is very straight and dark, just long enough to flop into his eyes and doing so quite often.

Personality:

The Prince is unmistakable as someone having led a privileged lifestyle: he is, at least initially, arrogant, snobbish and somewhat dogmatic, although these negative traits diminish throughout the games. He has a very strong moral compass, and definite opinions about right and wrong, but sometimes this moral strength prevents him from seeing shades of grey. Despite this, he is also somewhat charming, and has a good sense of humour. The Prince can also be very sarcastic, but at heart he is an optimistic person, who earnestly believes there is a solution to most problems. The Prince is also a little bit fixated on obtaining "honour and glory", and can also become very obsessed with vengeance. On the whole, however, he is a good person, constantly striving to do what he believes is right.

Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths:

The Prince's primary strength is his athleticism and talent for acrobatics. He is an extremely skilled gymnast, capable of running up and along walls, leaping across chasms, and climbing ropes and other complex structures with ease. He makes extensive use of acrobatics in combat, as well, vaulting over enemies and performing other difficult jumps to assist him in overcoming enemies. Combined with his basic skills as a warrior and an extremely capable swordsman, the Prince is a formidable foe. He can also wield two weapons and use stealth to kill enemies before they are even aware of his presence.

The Prince is also in possession of the Dagger of Time, which allows him to rewind time and undo actions. The Dagger needs to be filled with sand in order to be operational, but once it is sufficiently filled it can also do things such as freeze time for all except Prince, freeze a specific enemy, and slow down time for all except the Prince.

As for personal strengths, the Prince is a very determined, headstrong person, who will fight until the very last. Though this perseverance can be troublesome, it also saves his life on multiple occasions. He is also a very compassionate person, although he sometimes attempts, unsuccessfully, to quash this if helping others is not in his best interests.

Weaknesses:

As mentioned before, The Prince's weaknesses form a massive part of his personality. His pride and stubbornness often cause problems, though his entrenched dogmatism has lessened somewhat since he met the Indian Princess Farah. The Prince is also guilty of being extremely impetuous, impatient, and sometimes even reckless. He is also claustrophobic, and although skilled with the sword, is somewhat lacking in the art of diplomacy, too blunt to be cunning.

Furthermore, by The Two Thrones, the Prince's character has become a darker one. His trials during Warrior Within, including years spent in isolation, fleeing and fighting for survival, have permanently marked his psyche. He has developed a slightly more violent streak, and his fear and desperation often manifest as anger. By The Two Thrones, these traits have developed so significantly that they create as the Prince's evil counterpart. The Prince also has a tendency to avoid responsibility, turning to the sands to fix his mistakes, a fatal flaw that was crucial in giving birth to the Dark Prince. Eventually, however, the Prince manages, with Farah's help, to overcome this flaw and banish his dark doppelgänger. But now, thrust into Paixao, with Farah torn from his side yet again, the positive changes she has wrought are beginning to fade, and the darkness is gathering again.

History:

The Prince's tale begins with his first battle: on the way to Azad, his father, King Shahraman of Persia launches battle against the Maharajah of India. Determined to find honour and glory, but repelled by physical violence, the Prince, despite being a capable warrior, decides to win his father's favour by looting the palace of its most sought-after treasure: a beautiful, mysterious dagger. The defeat is facilitated by the treachery of the Indian Vizier, who, after the battle, asks for the dagger and another treasure, the equally mysterious Hourglass, as recompense. The Sultan denies him both of these things, and in a fury, the Vizier tricks the Prince into "unleashing the Sands" of the hourglass with the dagger. The Sands, unleashed upon the kingdom of Azad, destroy the palace and surroundings, and transform all but the Vizier, the Prince and the Indian Maharajah's captive daughter, Farah, into sand creatures. Although initially suspicious of each other, the Prince and Farah team up and eventually manage to overcome the Vizier and rewind time, undoing the damage the Sands had wrought upon Azad.

Unfortunately, in rewriting the time line, the Prince has unknowing unleashed yet another evil: the Dahaka, a bestial embodiment of fate that appears seven years after the events in Azad to kill Prince and restore order. The Prince, desperately seeking a way to vanquish the Dahaka, learns of the Island of Time, the birthplace of the Sands, from a wise old man and decides to travel there. His plan is to prevent the Sands from ever being created, and therefore appease the wrath of the Dahaka, however, he meets resistance on the Island in the form of Kaileena, the Empress of Time. Disastrously, the Prince manages to cause the creation of the Sands himself, and is eventually forced to stop fleeing and to defeat the Dahaka itself, which he manages to do with the help of Kaileena. Both having escaped their fates, they travel to the Prince's home, Babylon, to discover the city ravaged by war.

The Timeline having been rewritten, the Vizier that Prince had defeated in Azad is still alive, and still after the Sands. He kills Kaileena with the Dagger of Time and makes himself immortal using the newly released Sands. The Prince manages to take back the Dagger, but the unleashing of the Sands has awakened an alternative personality within him that is a manifestation of all Prince's negative traits. Within the ruined city, the Prince reunites with Farah, who does not remember him, and they team up again to defeat the Vizier and restore order. With Farah's help, the Prince is able to overcome not only the Vizier, but his own shortcomings and his guilt over the deaths of his father and Kaileena, embodied by the evil, destructive presence of the Dark Prince within his mind.
